Dr. Fabio Maria Montagnino, Head of Innovation & Entrepreneurship, The Cyprus Institute

Dr. Fabio Maria Montagnino is the Head of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at The Cyprus Institute. Since the ‘90, he’s been promoting open innovation models for sustainable development, through the generation of knowledge-based start-ups, technology scouting and knowledge transfer actions. He directly contributed to the implementation of many hard and soft infrastructures for innovation, as well as to develop and transfer new approaches and methodologies in EU and partner countries, especially in the Mediterranean area. Appointed among the European leaders of innovation ecosystems by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, he’s regularly engaged at an international level as visiting expert, coach, and lecturer. He is an associate of the Cambridge Learning Gateway which connects experts about innovation management of the most prestigious international academic and business institutions. Among other innovations, he designed novel solar energy systems and nature-based solutions to regenerate the marine environment.
